Edge Tut 3: Another method
for improving edges when you circle an image
1 To the left is a small version
of the image I used for this tut. The rest of the work you do will be done on the colored layer. The white layer is just there for contrast. |
2 The screenshot at the left shows what
you don't want. So rather than circle it this way, you will enlarge the image first. |
3 Write down the original pixel dimensions of your image. Now open Resize under Image in your Menu bar. Using the percent setting, increase
the dimensions by 300 percent. Be sure to resize all
layers. |
4 After you have enlarged the image, open up the Effects in your menu bar, go down to Geometric Effects and then click on Circle. |
5 Your colored image is now a circle, but notice the jagged edges. |
6 Now open your Resize again and lower the percentage back down until the Pixel Dimensions readout is the same as or nearly the same as your original dimensions which you wrote down. Click OK. |
7 Now you should have a circled image which has a much smoother edge than if you had circled the original size image to begin with. Notice in the screenshot: |
